Design of traction inverter with SiC semiconductors

Design of traction inverter with SiC semiconductors

The rising cost of electric energy has presented significant challenges to transportation companies. To avoid operating at a loss, this may lead to them increasing fares, reducing services or route cancellations. The propulsion system is the most important component of electric vehicles as it enables their motion. The main elements of the propulsion system are the traction motor and its associated propulsion system. My project was developing a SiC-MOSFET-based inverter optimized for traction applications. Its energy density is 60% higher than that of a similarly powered commercially available frequency converter. The device operates with high efficiency, is compact, and has high energy density. It fully meets the requirements of 21st century inverters.
