3D printing of an object moving by hygroscopic stimulation

3D printing of an object moving by hygroscopic stimulation

In this project, a complete product development process was carried out; the result is a functioning, energy-autonomous, biodegradable small robot. For this purpose, the latest results from cutting-edge research were taken into account, material behaviour was characterised, physical processes were modelled analytically and numerically, prototypes were built, and functionality was tested experimentally. The developed product, called “Hygrobot”, draws its energy from humidity fluctuations in ambient air.
